Mary Ellen Worlledge

Mary Ellen Simpson was born May 1, 1933, in Hamlet, WV. She attended West Virginia Wesleyan College majoring in English with a minor in science. She was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and was elected May Queen her junior year and Homecoming Queen her senior year. She taught high school English, science and remedial reading for 3 years. She married Donald Worlledge, the love of her life, in 1954 and was happily married to him for 68 years.

Mary Ellen was trained as a professional makeup artist for movie, stage, and personal application. She started her own business as a personal style consultant where her goal was to improve her customer's self-esteem by helping them find their personal image and style. She enjoyed traveling to new places and meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures. She traveled the world with husband Don and their close friends. She loved to sing and her beautiful soprano voice blessed many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, sister, Anne and grandson Nathan. She is survived by daughter, Cecile and Thomas Holthaus of Pinehurst, TX and son, Thomas and Jan Worlledge of Charleston and by her grandchildren, Tracie, Stephen, and Mark and great-grandchildren Eli, Gabe, and Bella.

Mary Ellen is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, WV. A Memorial Service will be held at Botetourt Funeral Home, Eagle Rock, VA, on Thursday July 20 at 3:00pm preceded by a visitation at 2:00pm.
