David "Coots" Delano Steele

He was preceded in death by his parents, E. H. and Maude Godbey Steele; wife, Barbara Dingess Steele; son, William “Bill” Steele; and grandson, James Patrick Steele.

David was the last surviving sibling, preceding him in death were his brothers, Harl, Carl, Paul, Frank, Fred, Charles and Robert “Bobby”; and his sisters were, Lillian Steele Chapman, Doris Steele Stollings, and Nina Steele Elkins.

He is survived by his daughter, Alisa Steele; granddaughter, Blake Thompson; and great-grandchildren, Frankie Lynn James, L. J. Steele, and Allison Steele.

Coots was a member of Morning Star Free Will Baptist Church. He formerly worked at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI and retired from Logan County Board of Education as a carpenter.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, Chapmanville, with Pastor Ronnie Collins officiating. Entombment will follow the service in the mausoleum.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.
