Stephen Vincent Pugh

Stephen Vincent Pugh, 70, of Madison Heights, passed away early February 4th after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Born in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Vincent A. and Arlene D. Pugh. He was a good man that served his country with distinction. He retired from the Department of Defense, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. During his time in the US Navy, he served as a Lieutenant Commander in the Office of Naval Intelligence. He was the recipient of two Bronze Star Medals for meritorious service and received many other commendations. He loved his family, the Navy, military history, travel, reading, and a good bowl of ice cream. His home was filled with books and mementos of his travels to various places around the world, including favorite locations like the pyramids of Egypt, Germany, Australia, and Saudi Arabia. He was a member of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church in Madison Heights.
He is survived by his sister, Marianne P. Frichtel, her husband John and their daughter Maria of Madison Heights, his brother Richard Pugh and wife Amy of Woodbridge; his Uncles Leonard H. Dawson and Gene Prevento of Madison Heights, and the loving families of his cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm Thursday, February 9 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
A funeral service to celebrate Mr. Pugh’s life will be conducted at 10:30 am Friday, February 10 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Derik Hamby officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, with military honors by the American Legion Post 16.
