Born in Stapleton, he was the son of the late Percy Douglas Morcom, Sr. and Margaret Mays Morcom. Roy worked most of his career with Craddock-Terry Shoe Corp with over 39 years of service. He was a US Army veteran and had been a long time member of Sandy Bottom Christian Church and most recently Union Christian Church. Roy was also an avid fan of the Ford Mustang. He owned two that he loved to show off and for several years had been active in a local Mustang Club.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Jean Morcom and Joyce Morcom Carson.
He is survived by one son, Stephen Roy Morcom and his wife Patti of Madison Heights; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Stinson and her husband Brian of Amherst; one sister, Marie Morcom Tuck and her husband Billy of Moneta; one brother, P. Douglas Morcom, Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Monroe; five grandchildren, Brandon Stinson, Matthew Stinson, Megan Stinson, Allison Morcom and Devin Morcom and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Amelon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Freeman and the Rev. Dwayne Carson officiating. Interment will follow in Beulah United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stapleton with military honors by the American Legion Post 16.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Amelon United Methodist Church.
