Richard Henry Pingley III, 53 of Roanoke, and longtime resident of Madison Heights, passed away April 26, 2013. He is survived by his spouse, Thomas H. Meeks.
Born May 13, 1959, in Hampton, he was a son of the late Eleanor Jane Wamsley Pingley, and is survived by his father, Richard Henry Pingley Jr., of Madison Heights.
Richard was employed at Lewis-Gale Medical Center, in Salem. He was a talented artist and craftsman, and was known for the many wonderful puppets he created.
Survivors also include his siblings, Dena Gardner and husband Yogi, of Winchester, Tammy Coates and husband Randy, of Madison Heights, and Greg Pingley and wife Beth, of Madison Heights; Thomas’s son, Anthony Scott Meeks; nieces, and nephews, Dustin Gardner, Katalin Gardner, Nicholle Coates, Jared Pingley, and Logan Pingley.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 30, 2013, from 6-8:00 pm at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Presbyterian Cemetery, by the Rev. Steve Tyree.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Humane Society of Amherst Co., PO Box 614, Amherst, VA 24521.
