Nannie Alice Lloyd Gilbert

Nannie Alice Lloyd Gilbert, 94, of Lynchburg passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles Henry Gilbert.
Born in Lynchburg, February 5, 1917, she was a daughter of the late William Ross Lloyd and Mary Bell Vest Lloyd. She was a member of El Bethel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Gilbert Poindexter of Lynchburg; two sons, Charles H. Gilbert, Jr. and his wife Judy and R. David Gilbert and his wife Wanda all of Allwood; one sister, Louise Lloyd Brown of Monroe; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In additon to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew, raised in the home from a young age, Lewis G. McDaniel; four brothers and three sisiters.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2011 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Waltz and the Rev. Janet Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow in Allwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
