Born in Henrico County, March 17, 1954, he was the son of the late Charlie D. Thomas and Wyona Grant Thomas. Larry was a retired teacher from Amherst County Public Schools and a longtime member of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan but was passionate about soft ball. He played softball for years and served for a number of years as the head softball coach for the Amherst Lancers. Larry’s other passion was his family. He eagerly supported his son’s successful bluegrass band by taking pictures, selling CD’s and attending concerts. He was their biggest fan. His two favorite people call him Paw Paw. Larry was a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his son, Mason Wayne Thomas and his wife Rebecca of Madison Heights and his grandsons, Walker Lane Thomas and Stetson Wayne Thomas.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2021 at Randolph Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Norman officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
