Kathryn Spencer Spencer Pixley

Kathryn Spencer Pixley, 79, of Monroe, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Rex A. Pixley, Jr. Born April 16, 1937 in Monroe, she was the daughter of the late Roy Oliver Spencer and Marion Grey Peyton Spencer. Upon graduation from Sweet Briar College in 1963, Kathryn began her career as a teacher with Amherst County Public Schools. She was a lifelong member of Monroe United Methodist Church, where she had served as Organist and Choir Director. Kathryn is survived by three sons, James S. “Jim” Drumheller and wife Ann of Forest, Tony C. Drumheller and wife Melinda, and R. Scott Drumheller and wife Terri, both of Amherst and two grandchildren, Christopher P. Drumheller and Lauren K. Drumheller. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 23, 2017 at Monroe United Methodist Church with Pastor Josh Dalton officiating. Interment will follow at Amherst Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00–5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
