June Wise Martin

Clydia “June” Wise Martin, 70 of Amherst, departed her earthly home on Thursday, December 15, 2022 and entered the gates of Heaven to join her Heavenly Father. For more than 49 years, she was the devoted wife of Burton Monroe Martin.
Born February 7, 1952 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Coleson Wise and Alsie Hartless Wise. June was a retired Nurses Aide with Johnson Senior Center in Amherst. She attended Sardis U.M. Church.
In addition to her husband, June is survived by her son, Luke I. Wise (Scott) of Kernersville, NC; three sisters, Wanda Ayers (Gene), Susan Coffey (Steve), and Rebecca Phelps (Charles); two brothers, Ricky Wise (Janet) and Clyde Wise, Jr. (Betty); her three best friends, Becky Ogden, Melanie Walker, and Dawn Stillwell and a host of nieces and nephews.
June and her radiance will always remain in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and unconditional loving nature, she showed to all. She shared Mother Teresa’s belief, “Love is a fruit in season at all times and within reach of every hand." She had a strong Christian faith and followed Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Her favorite past times were spending time with her family, Bible devotions, her fur babies, music, and jigsaw puzzles.
A funeral service, to celebrate June’s life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Bob Parks officiating. Interment will follow at Briarwood Memorial Gardens in Amherst County.
The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2022 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
