James David Tyree Sr.

James David Tyree, Sr., 73, of Madison Heights, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at his residence. Born on March 24, 1947 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Elgie Lee Tyree and Doris “Toppy” Parrish Tyree. James served our country in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He retired as a welder and enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his children, James “Jimmy” Tyree, Jr. and wife Katherine, Lisa Wood, Michael Tyree and wife Tara, Jason Tyree and wife Jennifer, Russ Tyree, and Megan Timmons and husband Zach; nine grandchildren, Franklin Wood, Sydney Tyree, Walker Tyree, Tatom Tyree, Ryann Tyree, Reagan Tyree, Jalynn Tyree, Jesse Tyree, and Hunter Tolitol; two great grandchildren, Sophia Wood and Viktor Wood; two sisters, Doris Beard and Pamela Dodgion; life companion, Nancy Winston; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
