Frances Campbell Williams, 88, of Madison Heights, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the loving wife of James R. Williams, Jr. for sixty-four years. Born January 7, 1927, in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Z. Paulie Campbell and the late Mattie Mays Campbell. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Z. Junior Campbell and William Campbell and two sisters, Ellie Campbell and Marie Fitzgerald.
In addition to her husband, Frances is survived by her children, Patricia W. Kost (Rick), Michael W. Williams (Barbara) and Jeannie W. Lawhorne; four grandsons, Jeffrey B. Williams (Susan), Mickey Williams (Shannon), Matthew P. Williams and J. Andrew Williams (Melanie); one step granddaughter, Dawn R. Jennings (Donnie); seven great grandchildren, Samuel, Alexander, Joshua, Nathaniel, Ella, Ana and Jake; two step great-grandsons, Justin E. Bobbitt (Vanessa) and J. Taylor Bobbitt; two sisters, Mary Ann Trent (Ed) and Elizabeth Davis; two brothers, Vernon Campbell (Shirley) and Tommy Campbell (Sadie); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frances was an excellent cook and homemaker. She was an employee of Lynchburg Hosiery Mill for many years, and a member of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church. Frances was a wonderful and caring mother to her three children and her daughter-in-law Barbara held a special place in her heart. She will be missed dearly by them. She loved her grandsons with all her heart and her great grandchildren gave her much joy. Her family is comforted by knowing that they will see her again one day.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 26, 2015, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Larry Fitzgerald and Chaplain J. Andrew Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Meade Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m., Sunday, January 25, 2015, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
