Edith McLemore Purvis

Edith McLemore Purvis, 85, of Madison Heights, passed away, Tuesday, April 03, 2018 at the University of Virginia Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Billy Crist Purvis.
Born in Giles County on April 30, 1932 she was a daughter of the late Frank Tyler McLemore and Myrtle Sexton McLemore. Edith graduated from Roanoke Memorial Hospital Nursing School in 1954; she retired from Central Virginia Training Center as a Registered Nurse with 29 years of service, and was a member of Amelon United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing and quilting.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her sister Sue M. Barr and by her son-in-law, Randall Hall.
She is survived by, a son, Robert D. Purvis and girlfriend Roberta Goin; a daughter, Rebecca P. Hall; three grandchildren, Derek Moss, Jared Moss, and Cody Slonaker; six great-grandchildren, Aubrey Moss, Kamryn Moss, Malorie Moss, Brooklyn Moss, Jared Moss, Jr., and Kali Walker.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 pm on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Whitten Monelison Chapel, with Dr. Bob Phillips. Interment will follow in Meade Cemetery.
