Eddie Wayne Martin

Eddie Wayne Martin, 57, of Amherst, passed away, Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born May 6, 1956, in Amherst County, he was the son of Eddie Albert Martin and the late Shirley Inez Martin.
Wayne worked in security for 28 years at B&W before serving as a deputy for the Amherst County Sheriff’s Department. He also served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps Special Ops. Wayne was also a member of Faith Baptist Church and the NRA.
In addition to his father, Wayne is survived by the love of his life, Dawn Ferguson of Amherst and her daughter, Cameron Sandgren and her husband Dustin of Lincoln, NE; one sister, Charlotte “Cricket” Knight and her friend Calvin Greg Lindsey of Lynchburg; one niece whom he thought of as a daughter, Courtney Nicole Knight of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Blair Sandgren and Graham Sandgren; and special loving friends, Bobby and Wanda Jones and many others.
A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Brian Hudson officiating. Entombment will follow at the Briarwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, where Military Honors will be presented by the U.S. Marine Corps.
The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2014, at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the residence.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
