Born on April 29th, 1945 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Sterling E. Anderson and Jeanette Anderson Wooldridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip Wooldridge and Earl Wooldridge; two sisters, Holly Corey and Brenda Driggers; and two brother-in laws, Curtis Mitchell and Larry Mitchell.
He worked for over 40 years at Lynchburg Foundry prior to his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, watching NASCAR, NFL and college football, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, listening to country and bluegrass music and traveling to Tennessee. His greatest love and joy came from being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley M. Anderson; son Gregory Anderson (Chomphunuch “Sue”); daughter, Tammy Cheatham (Kenny); grandchildren, Matthew Anderson, Tina Staton, Kevin Cheatham, Kayla Cheatham and Brandon Mitchell; great-grandchildren Lacie Staton, Laila Staton and Tanya Anderson; and special brother-in-laws that became his best friends, Kenneth and Randal Mitchell.
A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Jacob Uthup officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
