Charles Lionel Lindsey

Charles Lionel Lindsey, 82, of Lynchburg and formerly of Madison Heights passed away Friday, July 21, 2017, at The Summit. He was the loving husband of Nancy Glass Lindsey. Born August 15, 1934, in Bedford County, he was the son of the late James Lionel Lindsey and the late Laler Bell Anderson Lindsey.
Charles was a retired driver for Red’s Chip and Confection Company, and was a member of Tree of Life Ministries. He served our country in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by one son, Brian Lindsey; two brothers, William B. Lindsey and Richard J. Lindsey; and two sisters, Dorothy L. Hurt and Mary L. Weigand.
In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his son, C. David Lindsey and his wife Nicole of Lynchburg; one granddaughter, Ashlynn Lindsey; sister-in-law, Pauline “Polly” Lindsey of Colonial Heights; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 24, 2017, at Tree of Life Ministries with Pastor J. Mike Dodson officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park with military honors presented by the American Legion Post 16.
The family will receive friends 3-5 p.m., Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the residence of his son, C. David Lindsey.
The family would like to express a special thank you the doctors and staff at The Summit Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care of Charles during his time there.
