Barbara Richardson Richardson Davis

Barbara Richardson Davis, 71, of Monroe, went to be with her Lord, peacefully, Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at her residence, surrounded by the family that she loved. She was the wife of Alton William Davis for 47 years.

Born in Madison Heights, she was the daughter of the late William Huntley Richardson, Jr. and the late Doris Wheeler Richardson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Gloria Anne R. Middleton and one brother William Huntley Richardson, III.

Barbara was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church and she was retired from the Limitorque Corp. after 39 years of service.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Barry Lee Burks and his wife, Kathy, of Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter, Josephine Berry and her husband, William, of Monroe; one sister, Shirley R. Snow and her husband, Johnny, of Lynchburg; one brother, Joseph Peyton Richardson and his wife, Dru, of Corona, CA; five grandchildren, Matthew Burks of Boulder, CO, David Burks of Kernersville, N.C., Rachel Wiley and her husband, Josh, of Oak Ridge, TN, William Michael Berry and his wife, Janet, of Monroe and Jennifer B. Richardson and her husband, Curt, of Madison Heights; three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., today, Feb. 23, 2011, at Whitten Monelison Chapel by Pastor J.D. Surbaugh. Entombment will follow in Briarwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
