Jerry Schmidt

Jerry shared a remarkable 68 years of marriage with his beloved wife Pat. Together, they built a life full of love, faith, mutual care, and happiness, always spoiling each other in the best ways. Raising their family was their greatest joy. Jerry was a proud United States veteran, serving in the Army's 3rd Armored Division. He was also an avid fast pitch softball pitcher for 35 years and never passed up dessert! ("Pace yourself.") Jerry's legacy lives on in the memories and hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Jerry was a devoted husband to Patricia Schmidt, a loving father to Suzanne (Thomas) Jendrusch, Kathleen (John) Ferer, Caroline (William) Spitz, and Gregory (Kristin) Schmidt; cherished grandfather to Alexandra Niehaus, Blake Jendrusch, Haley Larkin, Lea Ferer, Mikayla Ferer, Abigail Spitz, Luke Spitz, Claire Spitz, Sarah Spitz, Carter Schmidt, and Hannah Schmidt; dearest great grandfather to Joseph, Madeline, and Mia; wonderful brother to the late Joan Vancouwenberghe (Michael), and leaves behind many beloved family members and friends.

A visitation for Jerry will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre Rd, Madison Heights, Michigan 48071.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Louise de Marillac Catholic Parish, 2500 E. 12 Mile Road, Warren, MI 48092.

Jerry will be laid to rest in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, Michigan 48442.
