Carol A. Singer formerly of Bradenton, FL passed away peacefully with her sister by her side on March 12, 2017 at the Mary Wade Skilled Nursing Facility in New Haven. Born in New Haven, Carol is survived by her loving sister Mary E. Monahan of Hamden whom she was with for the past Five years. Carol was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Mary Flanagan Eagan, her sister Susan F. Eagan and her beloved husband Leonard N. Singer. She also leaves two step children Judith Singer of Pompano Beach, FL and James Singer of Newton Highlands, MA. Carol graduated from Lauralton Hall in Milford and Grace New Haven School of Nursing and then went on to a distinguished career in the field of Nursing Education. She received her (EdD) Doctor of Education from the University of Houston. Dr. Singer retired from the position of director of the Division of Nursing and Health Sciences at Manatee Community College in Bradenton, FL on June 30, 2003. Prior to that, she held a similar position at North Harris Community College in Dallas, Texas. She was appointed to a four year term on the 21 member National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice of the Health and Resources and Services Administration. Carol was a past president of the National Association for Associate Degree Nursing of which she was one of the group's founders. She was a frequent presenter at conferences and annual meetings and a member of numerous professional organizations on state and national levels. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave, Hamden CT on Thursday March, 16th at 10 a.m. Interment will be held on Tuesday March 21st at 11am at Mansion Memorial Park,1404 Leffingwell Ave., Ellenton, Florida. There will be no visiting hours and if friends desire, Memorial Contributions may be made out to the Mary Wade Home, 118 Clinton Ave, New Haven CT 06513.
