She was born April 9, 1940, in Albany, Georgia, to Pauline Lambe Flynt and Worth Addison Flynt. She grew up in Macon, Georgia, and graduated from A.L. Miller High School. While at Miller, she made lifelong friends and continued occasional lunches with the “Miller Girls.” She attended West Georgia College, where she learned administrative skills that she applied to positions at several companies over 10 years before becoming a full time homemaker.
In Macon, she met the love of her life, Randall Watson, and they married on August 19, 1961. Together they raised two daughters, Susan and Alison. In pursuit of educational and career goals, the family moved often, living in Auburn, AL, Chicago, IL, Philadelphia, PA, and Nashville, TN. Later career pursuits took her and Randall to Morris Plains, NJ, Atlanta, GA, Hawkinsville, GA, Greenville, SC and Charlotte, NC. Finally, she and Randall moved to the Lake Oconee area in Greensboro, GA.
Her family roots were in the Winston Salem/Rural Hall, NC, area where she had many happy memories of family gatherings as a child and adult. She passed an appreciation for family history on to her daughters and husband. She was a member of Bethania Moravian Church in Bethania, NC.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James Randall Watson; her daughters, Susan Watson Coker and Alison Flynt Watson; her son-in-law, Anthony Coker; a sister, Dorothy Bishop; grandsons, Carson and Watson Coker; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family and friends in Georgia and North Carolina.
