Born in Wilkinson County, GA, “Brother Bob” was an ordained Baptist minister who studied at Brewton Parker College and Mercer University. He had a 50+ year career as a “country church” pastor including terms at Smyrna Baptist Church in Macon and Liberty Baptist in Irwinton. He was a retired Colonial Store and Big Star Grocery manager. After retirement from the grocery business, he became a real estate entrepreneur and enjoyed what is known today as “flipping houses.”
Brother Bob was a 33rd Degree Mason and was a past member of the Georgia National Guard. He was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church and first of all was a loving and devoted Christian husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who was most happy sharing the Gospel and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Terrell Vinson, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 65 years, Greta Perkins Vinson; their daughters, Marilyn Raffield and Miriam (Richard) Cook; their 6 grandchildren, Melissa Jones (Mark) Smith, Mandy (Dave Chow) Scarbary, Miranda Jones (Chan) Ayers, Shay (Jessica) Williams, Meredith Cook (Richard) Stokes and Robert Williams and 13 great grandchildren.
