Robert Stephens Slocumb, age 93 passed away Tuesday, July 25th, 2023 at Community Hospice in Vidalia, Georgia. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 28, 2023 at Park Memorial United Methodist Church, 5290 Arkwright Road, Macon 31210. Burial will be private for family only in Riverside Cemetery. Rev. Loran Smith will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service.
He graduated from Lanier High School in 1948 and served in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952, during the Korean War. He first served as a flight simulator instructor for pilot trainees at Randolph Field in Texas. Later he served as radar operator in a B-25 group based at Mather Field in California.
Upon completion of his military service, he graduated from Mercer Law School in 1963 and practiced in Macon until he retired in 2002.
He was a member of Park Memorial United Methodist Church where he served on various committees and as treasurer for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife, Harlene Slocumb of Vidalia, son and daughter-in-law Steve and Betsy Slocumb of Macon, daughter Molly Sims of Pooler, granddaughters Katy Slocumb Burton and husband Will of Macon, Alex Slocumb Minor and husband Robert of Macon, grandson Daniel Sims of Savannah, and great grandchildren Ellie Burton, William Burton and Mary Collins Minor.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Park Memorial UMC or your favorite charity.
