Reuben Earl King, 72, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, January 23, 2016. A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 2:00pm at Park Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Cecil Hazen and Rev. Sam Lamback officiating. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends Monday night from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Park Memorial United Methodist Church, 5290 Arkwright Rd., Macon, 31210.
Mr. King was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Carrie Jackson King and Reuben Earl King, Sr. He retired from the accounting department with Georgia Power after 32 years and then worked part time for River North Development. Mr. King was a member of Park Memorial United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and the Parks Pickers group. He was a Mason and a member of the Lanier luncheon group, Hearts and Hammers, and was on the Board of Directors for Emerald Pointe in Panama City Beach, Florida. He was an avid outdoorsman, and especially loved camping, hunting and fishing. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his grandchildren were the light of his life.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Green King; children, Gary Earl (Debbie) King and Thomas N. King; grandchildren, Thomas King, Maleigha King, Michael King and Robert Earl King; sister, Rita (Barry) McKemy; brother-in-law, Malcolm (Sharlyn) Green; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
