Lt. Randall E. Parker, Jr., 46, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in the line of duty. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Macon City Auditorium. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Pastor John Wood, Pastor Kevin Purcell, Dr. Neal Wall, Captain Jimmy Hollis, Chief Cedric Scott and Fire Chief Marvin Riggins will officiate. Randall Parker will lie in state where the family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM Sunday at Macon Government Center formerly City Hall. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Lt. Randy E. Parker, Jr. Memorial Fund, c/o State Bank or Macon Fireman’s Credit Union, 899 Oglethorpe Street, Macon 31201.
Born in Warner Robins, Georgia the son of the late Randall E. Parker, Sr. A graduate of Parkway High School in Bossier City, Louisiana, where he was a member of the Louisiana All State/All Star High School Band. Lt. Parker served as firefighter with the Macon Bibb County Fire Department since July 2, 1990. A faithful member of Christ Chapel Sportstowne, Randy was a man who consistently demonstrated a love for his LORD, wife, sons and family. He went beyond his role as a loving husband, involved father, and exceptional firefighter with being actively involved in his church Christ Chapel Sportstowne, MDA, United Way, American Cancer Society and the Macon Cherry Blossom Festival. Randy’s hobbies included drag racing, riding motorcycles, enjoying music and spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered as an inspiration and mentor to all who knew him.
Randy is survived by his wife of 14 years, Sandie P. Parker of Macon; sons, Andrew and Chandler Parker of Macon; mother and step-father; Gwendolyn (Fred) Dixon, brother and sister-in-law; Marcus (Teri) Parker of Macon; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dale and Diane Purcell of Homer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kevin (April) Purcell of Commerce; step-brothers, Freddie Dixon and Eddie (Natalie) Dixon; step-sister, Loretta (Dalton) Gahman; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, including Landon Purcell.
