Patsy Sangster Young, 78, peacefully passed away after a lengthy illness on Friday, January 25, 2013 surrounded by her family. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Ingleside Baptist Church Chapel at 3:00 p.m. with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Dr. Mark Hudgins will officiate. The family will meet friends at 150 Rivoli Ridge Drive the residence of Jan and Richard Battcher from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday. Flowers are appreciated or memorial may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Mrs. Young was born February 10, 1934 in Vienna, Georgia to the late Thomas Watson and Irene Reynolds Sangster. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Young, Jr. and her sister, Mary Frances Sangster Allen. Mrs. Young attended the University of Georgia where she met her future husband, Bob Young. She lived her entire married life in Macon, Georgia and is survived by her daughters, Jan Young Battcher (Richard) and Jill Young Dean (Dr. Jon); her grandchildren, Mary Frances Dean, Juliana Dean, Jonathan Dean and Todd Battcher, all of Macon; sister-in-law, Sara Ellen Anderson (Bobby) of Macon; brother-in-law, Leroy Young (Tatum) of Clayton, Georgia; many devoted nieces and nephews and her devoted caretakers, Angela Albritton and Marie Sherman.
Mrs. Young was a former president of Bibb County Pharmacy Auxiliary, National Guard Auxiliary, Macon Junior Women’s Club and the Suburban Garden Club. She was presently a member of the Morning Music Club, Mary Hammond Washington Chapter of the DAR and a Cherry Blossom Tour Director, Macon Service League Chorus, Howard Community Center and the Macon Exchangettes. She was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church where she was in the Kate Davis Sunday School Class, a past Director of Youth Ministries, a member of Congregational Care Outreach, Flower Committee and the Inglelites. Mrs. Young volunteered at MARC’S Workshop later known as ARC and worked as a teacher’s aid for special students.
