Patricia “Pat” “Sweet Nanny” Theriault, 72, of Liberty Ridge Drive, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, at a local hospital. The family will greet friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Wednesday at Snow’s Funerals and Cremations at Bass Road in Macon. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Greenwood Baptist Church with Rev. Kim Washburn officiating. Mrs. Theriault will be laid to rest at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Jones County.
Mrs. Theriault was born July 3, 1950, in Gainesville, Georgia, to the late Horace Junior DeLong and Lillian Christine Roach DeLong. She was a devoted member of Greenwood Baptist Church and was a retired owner of the successful family business, DeLong’s Gizzard Equipment, started by her parents.
Mrs. Theriault was a servant to her community; she has the distinction of being the first female officer to serve in the Gainesville Police Department and served as an EMT for the Jones County Volunteer Fire Department. Mrs. Theriault was proud of her work as a child advocate for CASA and was an active member of the Jones County Lions Club. She was the family matriarch, who organized most family functions and loved visiting with her family. Mrs. Theriault was preceded in death by her devoted husband: Russell Paul Theriault and by her three brothers: David, Ricky and Roger DeLong.
Mrs. Theriault is survived by her children: Dawn Nickles, Carrie Smith (Adam), Mary Murray (Robb), Bobby Harris, Sabrina Watkins (Vince) and Susan Spaven (George); grandchildren: Lane, Tom, Mackensie, Ryan, Paige, Bennett, Bradley, Trey, Nate, Jessica, Bella, Russell, Scottie, Katie, John and Lilly; eleven great-grandchildren; sister: Becky Etheridge and by her cousin and best friend: Gail Henderson.
The family may be contacted Tuesday from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, at the residence of Carrie and Adam Smith at 157 Stonebrooke Drive in Gray.
