Mavis C. Horton, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Charlie Simmons officiating. Flowers are accepted or donations to donor’s favorite charity.
Mavis was born in Hawkinsville, GA to the late Sam and Alice Coleman Crenshaw. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett F. Horton, Sr. and her siblings, Mildred Sellars, Montine Williams, Muriel Cochran, Collene Clifton, Sammy Anglin, Lurell Crenshaw. She was the owner and operator of Mavis Beauty Shop for many years. Mavis was a member of Safe Harbor Baptist Church and former charter member of West Highlands Baptist Church. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.
She is survived by her son, Frankie (Almira) Horton of Macon, grandchildren, Jane (Wilson) Jones of Appleton, WI and Amy (Brent) DeVane of Macon, great grandchildren, Emily Jones, Nathan DeVane, Jake Jones, and Sunny DeVane and several nieces and nephews.
