Mark H. Swaim, passed away peacefully on November 2, at Pine Pointe Hospice, in Macon, GA. Funeral services will be Friday, November 5, at Bethany Baptist Church, 365 Pea Ridge Road, Juliette, GA, with the Rev. Jimmy Corbitt officiating. Family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time of the service at 1:00 p.m.
Born in Dalton, GA to the late Wayland A. Swaim & Wilma Henrietta Swaim, graduated from Dalton High School Class of 1971. Mark received his electrical engineering degree from Southern Tech in Marietta, GA.
Mark began his career with Georgia Power in 1974, then moved to NC to work for Allied Chemical in Moncure. In 1985. While vacationing in Daytona Beach, FL, he was contacted by Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corp., regarding an offer of employment. Mark worked for B & W from 1985 until 2004, where he was Director of Information Technology. In 2004, with the merger of B & W and RJ Reynolds, he and Ann moved to Winston Salem, NC. They had 11 great years until their grandchildren came along, and the urge to move back to Macon was too great.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Ellis Swaim; two sons, Jason Swaim (Tram-Anh) of Macon; Joe Swaim (Claire) of Macon, and grandchildren Payton, Shepherd, Evan, Avery & Emery Swaim. Two brothers, Gary (Linda) Swaim of Dalton, GA; Rodger (Judy) Swaim of Dallas, GA; one sister, Andrea (Danny) Kuykendoll of Douglasville, GA. Numerous nieces & nephews, and many friends from Georgia to North Carolina.
Burial will be private in Dalton, GA at a later date.
The family would like to express their many thanks to Pine Pointe Hospice, who took care of Mark in his final days.
