Manning G. Haskins, 99, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 surrounded by his family. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with his son the Rev. Glenn Haskins officiating. The family will greet friends on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Mr. Haskins was born in Dudley, Georgia to the late Lonnie and Lily Floyd Haskins. He was preceded in death by his wife of seventy two years, Doris Colleen Haskins, his son, Mark Haskins, his great grandson, Griffin Haskins, and sister, Juanita Ketterbaugh. He served his country and was a decorated World War II veteran, serving in the United States Army, Navy and National Guard. Mr. Haskins was a member of Glenwood Hills United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening and was an avid Braves fan. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather, brother, and uncle.
He is survived by his children, Pat Marcus of Macon, Rev. Glenn (Fran) Haskins of Macon, Angie (Jerry) Owens of Macon, six grandchildren, Ron Heath Jr., Mark Haskins Jr., Courtney Hatlee, Colby Zampa, Cliff Owens, Amanda Owens, six great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and sisters, Laura Goodrich and Virginia Toole of Macon and several nieces and nephews.
