Macon, GA – Lois S. Griffin, 84, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2011 at Pine Pointe Hospice. There she was greatly blessed as she was ministered to physically, and her family ministered to emotionally and spiritually, by the God-gifted nurses and staff during the transition time. Our great appreciation and thanks go to them.
Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held on Monday, September 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Neal Wall and Dr. Aubrey Sheats officiating. The family will receive friends at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Any donations in her memory should be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon GA 31210.
Mrs. Griffin was born on March 3, 1927 in Athens, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy L. Griffin. She had lived in Macon over seventy years. Mrs. Griffin was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church for some fifty years, she was always quietly took on the role of servant. Mrs. Griffin loved her church and her friends.
Up until her husband’s illness a few years ago, she was an avid golfer and bowler, bowling on a team for about forty years. She loved to fish and travel. But her greatest joy came from spending time with her family – both her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her extended family members.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Toby) Lawson of Macon, Delores Bumgardner of Macon, son, Tommy(Judy) Griffin, Jr. of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Shannon (Tom) Dotsikas, Shane (Mary Beth) Lawson, Vance Bumgardner, Tamara (Jason) Snipes, Tommy (Jenae) Griffin, III, Judson Griffin, Laura Castleberry and Brian Davis; great grandchildren, Luke and Leah Castleberry, Ava Faith and Layla Grace Dotsikas, Daniel Snipes, Harper and Hollis Griffin, and Riley Lawson, and sister, Thelma Whitehead of Macon, and several nieces and nephews.
