June D. Byers

MACON – June Deann Byers, 72, passed away Friday, September 16, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. Burial will be at 2:00 PM in Dorough Cemetery in Cordele. Dr. Mark Grinsted will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6 until 8 PM Monday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue.

Mrs. Byers was born in Cordele, GA and had lived in Macon for most of her life. She attended Macon State and was retired after many years as a sales agent for Geico Insurance. Mrs. Byers was a member of Bloomfield United Methodist Church, the United Insurance Association of America and was active within the Girl Scouts and was a former Troop Leader. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Sally L. Adams Herrington, II and was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Kaleb Grinsted.

Mrs. Byers is survived by her daughters, Kathy Byers (Johnny) Welch of Macon, Cindy Byers (Gary) Grinsted of Macon; brother, Robert Herrington, III of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Joel (Kelli) Lewis, Jr., Brandon (Tiffany) Lewis, Brittany (Josh) Taylor, Alicia Grinsted and Blane Grinsted; great-grandchildren, MaKenzie Lewis, Landon Johnson, Caden Hurst, Dakota Grinsted, Parker Taylor, Addison and Savannah Lewis; and a nephew.
