Juanita Gray Rooks

Juanita “Nita” Marie Gray Rooks, 73, gained her angel wings on May 20, 2023. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at Lizella United Methodist Church with the Reverend Gerald Reppert, Jr. officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Lizella United Methodist Church, 2920 South Lizella Road, Lizella, Georgia 31052.

Juanita was born in Northfield, Minnesota to her late parents John A. Gray and Lyla Evelyn Gray and was preceded in death by her sister, Bonnie Lee Shafer. Juanita was a longtime member of Lizella United Methodist Church, where she was a dedicated and passionate member and served in the children’s ministry as a Sunday School teacher and flourished in her role of Nursery Supervisor. She also had a passionate love for animals.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughters, Shennon Rooks and Kristina (Alan) Johnson; sisters, JoAnne (Boma) Pennebaker, Stephanie (Bert) Broussard; brothers, Stan (Debbi) Gray, Walter (Wanda) Cody; grandchildren, Lauren (Jake) Sanders, Shawn Johnson, Anna (Luke) Spencer, Samantha (Tate) Kitchens, Sarah (Thomas) Jackson, and Kevin Walker; many nieces and nephews; as well as many family and friends that loved her.
