John Washington Tate, Jr., 87, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park with Pastor Tim South officiating. Burial will be at Open Bible Church Cemetery, 6490 Sandy Point Road, Lizella, GA. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
John was born in Harriman, TN to the late John Washington Tate, Sr. and Elizabeth Moore Tate. He is preceded in death by his wives, Dolly Youngblood Tate and Imogene Edwards Tate. He served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty two years, serving in Korea and Vietnam. John was a member of Open Bible Church and was retired from Electric Motor Company after twenty three years of service. He loved his churches and helping people in need, playing and listening to bluegrass music. John was an avid Braves fan, enjoyed fishing and taking care of his pets. John was a devoted husband, father, brother and uncle.
He is survived his daughter, Shelia Tate of Pineville, LA and sister, Evelyn Curtis, step grandchildren, Mandey Collins, Jamie Killingsworth and Jason Conger, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
