Joe M. Butler

Joe M. Butler, 83, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2012. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Hills United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Dianne Sweckard and Rev. Teresa Edwards officiating. The family will greet friends on Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mr. Butler was born in Hartselle, AL to the late Alton and Ruth Morris Butler. He was retired from Chevron Oil Company after thirty nine years of service. Mr. Butler was very active in the life of his church, Forest Hills United Methodist Church, the Grace Sunday School Class where he served as treasurer, an usher and the Men’s Chorus and was also a member of the Men’s Prayer Group. He was a devoted Christian husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty five years, June G. Butler of Macon, three daughters; Barbara (Steve)Carnes-Saemisch of Sarasota, FL, Betsy J. Baugham of Macon, Bunny (Ronnie) Webb of Acworth, brother; Hal Butler of Dawson Springs, KY, seven grandchildren, Molly (Keith) Bice, Jennifer (Brandon) Powers, Robert Rogers, Joe Baugham, Mac Webb, Mark (Alaina) Webb and Lizz Webb and four great grandchildren, Ryan, Garth, Emma June, and Oliver.
