Flora “Joan” Rakes Clark, 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, January 17, 2019. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday night from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and also from 1:00pm until the service on Saturday.
Joan was born in Bradfordsville, Kentucky to the late Bateman and Rosa Stella Wright Rakes. She was preceded in death by several siblings and her son-in-law, Gregory Deep. Joan was a survey technician with Temple University and also a Bailiff with the Bibb County Courthouse. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. Joan had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, and also enjoyed following politics. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Buford Clark; children, Rhonda (David) Curtsinger, Melissa (Keith) Comer, Terry (Gina) Clark, Kelly (Derek Williams) Deep and Saundra Monroe; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and brother, Mike (Kay) Rakes.
