A native of Macon, she was the daughter of the late Mary Ann Raby and George Barfield. Jenny was a graduate of Central High School and Georgia Southwestern College. She worked as an ICU nurse at Sumter Regional and Charter Northside Hospitals. Jenny was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and maintained close ties with many of her Zeta sisters.
In later years when her mobility was impaired, the telephone became her lifeline. She stayed in touch with family and a vast array of friends. Her family often joked that there was little need to send an email or group message. A “Jennygram” would get there faster.
No tribute to Jenny could be complete without the mention of how much she loved her cats. Over the past thirty or so years, Jenny lavished love on anything feline that crossed her path. To her family’s chagrin, she could always find room for one more.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Carl Lancaster. She is survived by her mother, Patricia Barfield of Macon; brother, John Barfield (William Bercini) of Macon; sisters, Kate Rockwell (Danny) of Savannah; Trish Whitley (Brian) of Macon, Emme Talbert (Dave) of Boulder Creek, CA. She is also survived by a niece and nephews, Emily Rockwell, Andrew Rockwell, Sam Whitley, and Brice Whitley; her aunt and uncle, Eloise and Ben Harrison.
