Jim was born in Rochester, NY, the second of three children of George and Lena Breakey. With his brother, sister and parents, he lived in various places of lovely upstate New York before the family settled in Bridgeport, NY, on Oneida Lake. After graduation from Chittenango High School and a year of community college, he moved to Nassau, Bahamas.
Jim lived an industrious and adventurous life in the Bahamas, acquiring skills in the water drilling business and became owner and manager of Bahama Water Supply. He flew a small plane across the Caribbean from island to island in the course of his business, and frequently cruised the islands with his friends. He wrote short stories about his adventures to entertain family and the many friends he made in the Bahamas and in Georgia.
After selling Bahama Water Supply, Jim worked as a consultant with GOSCO and with various water drilling companies on the east coast. In later years, he lived on Thundering Springs Lake in East Dublin, GA, and enjoyed sailing, the company of his friends, and his beloved cat Greta. Jim was married twice, most recently to Billie Conard of Georgia.
Jim is survived by his sister, Gail Breakey, his nephew, David Breakey, and his nieces, Lise Breakey and Paula Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother, George Matthew Breakey III.
