

MACON – Genie McDougal passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010. Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church with interment at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Tim Bagwell, Dr. Jay Harris, and Jon Minney will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Georgia, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210.
Mrs. McDougal was born November 26, 1943 in Jackson, Tennessee, the daughter of Elizabeth Lindsay and the late Lt. Col. Eugene Lindsay. She is a nursing graduate of Incarnate Word College, San Antonio, Texas and served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Her tours of duty included Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas and Cam Rahn Bay, Vietnam. Genie was employed at the Medical Center of Central Georgia for forty-two years as the Director of Psychiatric Services. Her involvement during this time included her activities with the HEAT Campaign, Nurse Week, and numerous other committees. Her passion, in addition to her family and friends, was her role as captain of the Relay for Life Team for the Nan Freeman Sunday School Class at Martha Bowman UMC. She served in this role for over fifteen years.
Survivors include her husband of forty-one years, Alan McDougal; daughter, Kelley McDougal of Macon; sons, Shannon McDougal (Helen) of Atlanta and Jon Minney (Janea) of St. Louis, Missouri; mother, Elizabeth Lindsay of Macon; brother, Dr. W. C. Lindsay (Dawn) of Knoxville, Tennessee; and four grandchildren, Artem McDougal Treadwell, Avery McDougal, Nathan and Jeremiah Kuda; and nieces, Faith and Bryn Lindsay.
Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery has charge of arrangements.
