Cmsgt. Frederick G. Parker, USAF (Ret.), 82, died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 25, 2013 at Christ Episcopal Church with entombment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Savannah at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Harriett Simmons will officiate The family will meet friends from 4 – 6 p.m., Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. In lieu of flowers, they ask that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Macon, GA 31201 or to United Hospice, 6060 Lakeside Commons Drive, Macon, GA 31210.
Chief Parker, son of the late John Frederick Parker and Evelyn Rose Henninger Parker, was born in Brooklyn, NY. He served with the U. S. Air Force during the Korean and the Vietnam Wars attaining the rank of Cmsgt. Retiring after thirty years’ service. Chief Parker was a member of the Chief’s Group at RAFB, a member of AFSA, the American Legion and a member of Christ Episcopal Church. He was the brother of the late Frances Nusz.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Jean Vailes Parker, of Macon; his children, Virginia (Michael) Hess of Cool, CA, Barbara (Steve) Clapper of California, Annette (Glenn) Gantt of Savannah, Lennette (Richard) Griner of Savannah, Leigh Ann (Steve) Keeney of Florida, Jeffery John Parker of California and Michael T. (Sharon) Parker of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three nephews, Darrell, Duane and Douglas Nusz.
