Elizabeth “Betty” Colbert Brooks Edwards, 87, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Hills Methodist Church with the Rev. Baxter Hurley officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the church. Burial will be private at Macon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Forest Hills Methodist Church, Back Pack Ministry, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon GA 31210.
Betty was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Harry Leo and Alma Douthit Colbert. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Kenneth Brooks and Bobby Edwards. Betty was a faithful member of Forest Hills Methodist Church, Grace Bible Class, Singing Saints, Good Timers, Joyce Pyles Bible Study, and the Back Pack Ministry. She was retired from the Department of Family and Children Services after thirty years of service. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.
She is survived by her children, Diane (Mike) Clough of Twiggs County, Julie (Robert) Mayo of Bonaire, Cathy (Sid) Kirkland of Macon and Susan (Kurt) Bennett of Macon, grandchildren, Amy (Mark) Griffith, Michael (Danielle) Clough, Nathan (Jennifer) Ennis, Duane (Brittany) Ennis, Samantha (Jason) Finch, Nicholas (Courtney) Cook, Jeremy Mayo, J.R. Mayo, Travis (Heather) Bennett, seventeen great grandchildren, brother, Harry (Jackie) Colbert, Jr. of Round Oak, and several nieces and nephews.
