Edith Griffin Tuttle Lamb, age 94, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow's at Macon Memorial Park with Pastor Craig Holmes officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Gilead Baptist Church, 4800 Ivey Drive, Macon, Georgia 31206.
Edith was born in Culverton, Georgia to the late Binion and Edith Griffin, and was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifford Tuttle, and second husband, Willie B. Lamb; as well as eight brothers, and sisters, Ben Griffin, James Griffin, Richard Griffin, John Ed Griffin, Mattie Johnson Lyles, Lucile McGregor, Myrtle Rooks, and Doris Griffin. She worked for almost 50 years for F.W. Woolworth in Macon in the late 1940's and in the late 1950's she transferred to Woolworth in Atlanta for the remainder of her career, returning to Macon to live in the mid 1990's. She loved to travel and read in her free time. Edith lived at John Wesley Villas Retirement Community for the last 10 years.
She is survived by her brothers and sister, Jesse and Gloria Griffin of Milledgeville, Harold Griffin of Byron, and Joyce Hendley of Macon; sisters-in-law, Virginia Griffin of Gray, and Barbara Griffin of Sparta; brother-in-law, Eugene Rooks of Macon; and many nieces and nephews.
