Doris Allagood Jones, 85, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 2. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, May 5 at 3 p.m. at Snow’s Memorial Chapel on Pio Nono Avenue with burial at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Doctor Otis Andrews and Reverend David Mosley will officiate.
Mrs. Jones was born in Telfair County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Howell Creech Allagood and Mamie Belle Burkett Allagood. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Garlin W. Jones; her sister, Yvonne Renfroe and brother-in-laws, Alvin Brown and Billy Welch. Mrs. Jones was the eldest of six sisters.
She is survived by four children, Robert (Bob) Wesley Jones (Kim), Wendell Wayne Jones, Carolyn Faye Bullard (Henry) and Larry Milton Jones (Elaine); four sisters, Emily Forbes (Earl), Mamie Lou Brown, Patricia Bloodworth (Wendell) and Betty Jean Welch; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jones was a charter member of Glenwood Hills United Methodist Church, former member of Bethesda Baptist Church and a current member of Glenwood Hills Baptist Church. She was formerly employed by Macon Shirt Company, Middle Georgia Hospital and Charter Northside Hospital.
First and foremost she was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be forever missed by many.
