Donald Wayne Smith

Donald Wayne Smith, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Paul Dziadul and Rev. Beth Sanders officiating.

Donald was born in Macon to the late John Raymond and Arlyne Lazenby Smith. He was a graduate of Lanier High School and Georgia College, earning a Bachelors Business Administration degree. He was a member of the Georgia National Guard 48th Infantry Brigade. Donald retired from Robins Air Force Base with 35 years of service in avionics. He was a member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church and served on the Board of Directors for Tattnall Square Academy. Donald enjoyed restoring and driving his Ford Mustang.

A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Hurst Smith; daughter, Jenni (Paul) Wasmer of Tucker, GA; son, Joel Smith of Macon; sisters-in-law, Margaret Coody, Vienna, GA and Grace (Gene) Sanders of Atlanta, GA and several nieces and a nephew.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia, 3375 Napier Avenue, Macon, GA 31204 or a favorite charity.
