Cynthia “Cindy” Wright Hornsby, 66, passed away on December 12, 2012 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 3:00pm at Forest Hills United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dianne Sweckard and Rev. Michael Blankenship officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Burial will be private. The family requests donations be made to Macon Symphonic Band, 1210 Normandy Rd., Macon, 31210 or Little Carnegie of the South, 1954 Forsyth St., Macon, 31201.
Mrs. Hornsby was born in Rome, GA to the late Dr. Robert James Wright and Geraldine Brisbon Wright and preceded in death by her daughter, Claire Cohen in 2005. Mrs. Hornsby was a member of St. Andrew Christian Church and involved with the Macon Symphonic Band, Bibb County Retired Teachers’ Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Mrs. Hornsby received her BME degree from the University of Georgia, her Masters in Education from Georgia State College and University, and her Specialist in Education from Georgia Southwestern. She taught Kindergarten at Springdale Elementary School for 27 years and taught at Howard Middle School for five years before retiring.
Mrs. Hornsby is survived by her husband, Chris Hornsby of Macon; her daughter, Cathy Shuman of Forsyth; grandchildren, Brendan Shuman, Hannah Shuman, Jason Willis, Andy Houser, Alex Cohen, Amanda Cohen; great grandchild, Emma Cohen; sisters, Marjorie Wright of Miami, FL, and Ellen Hart of Petersburg, IL.
