Mr. Curtis Wayne Spires, Sr., 67, died Sunday afternoon, July 5, 2015 after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 9, at 11 o’clock, in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Pastor Eddie Braswell will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, July 8, from 6 until 8 o’clock. Wayne was born in Ashburn, Georgia to the late Matha Curtis and Alice Opal Nutt Spires. He earned an associate’s degree from Macon College, and spent 2 years serving our country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. Wayne was owner and operator of Spires Tires and Spires Auto Sales, both on Pio Nono Avenue in Macon. He was a member of Master’s Touch Ministry in Milledgeville and was an avid Atlanta Falcons fan.
Survivors include Juanita Bryant; son, Coleman Roberts; daughter, Aimee (Johnny) Boutwell; sons, Jeffrey (Kim) Spires, Ashley (Holly) Spires, Curtis (Brandy) Spires, Jr; 10 grandchildren; 1 aunt; and several cousins.
