Coleman J. Hewett, 90, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Monty February officiating. The family will meet friends from 2:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 9, c/o Van Edwards, 4493 Houston Ave., Macon GA 31206.
Mr. Hewett was born in Holmes Co., FL to the late Mr. and Mrs. Lorrel and Vela Hewett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Hewett and his daughter, Connie Hewett Butt. He served in the United States Army, Hq. Co 511th Parachute Inf. Regt, 11th Airborne, during World War II and was retired from Robins Air Force Base. Fifty plus years of volunteer work where he was a lifelong member of Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 9, also life member of National Order of Trench Rats. Mr. Hewett was a member of the Cathedral of Christ Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald C. (Tammy) Hewett of Gray, four grandchildren, Josh Hewett, Jessica Hewett, Amy Macedo and Erin Carr, seven great grandchildren, and son-in-law, Ben Butt of Macon.
