Brian Ward Grimsley, 79, returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Pine Pointe Hospice. Funeral services and a celebration of his earthly life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2013 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Aubrey Sheats will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Grimsley, Daniel Grimsley, Dr. Allen Giddens, Gregg Giddens, Keith Giddens and Larry Grimsley. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted or those who wish may make memorial contributions to Bellevue Baptist Church Building Fund, 5925 Price Road, Macon 31210.
Mr. Grimsley, son of the late Julius Irvin and Nell Ward Grimsley, was a lifelong resident of Macon. He was preceded in death by his brother Gary Walden Grimsley. In 1979, he graduated Magna cum Laude from Georgia College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Mr. Grimsley was active in both the Machinist and Electronics Apprentice Programs prior to becoming a Contracting Officer in the Contracting Directorate at Robins Air Force Base. Mr. Grimsley retired after forty-one years of civil service.
Mr. Grimsley was an active member of Bellevue Baptist Church for sixty-years. He served as a Deacon, General Sunday School Director and Secretary, Sunday School Teacher and supported all programs in the life of his Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason at Fort Hawkins Lodge #418 and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and was recognized for Fifty Years of service.
Survivors include the family he cherished, his high school sweetheart and wife of sixty years, Dean N. Grimsley of Macon; his children, Brian Grimsley (Vicki) of Gray, Dennis Grimsley and Dave Grimsley, both of Macon; his beloved grandchildren, Merritt Brooks, Michael Grimsley, Cydney Grimsley, Daniel Grimsley and Sarah Grimsley; his great grandchildren, Mason Grimsley, Kash Brooks, Caleb Brooks and Ciara Brooks.
