Betty Hancock Brittle, of Macon, Georgia passed away on October 7, 2024. Born on September 23, 1946, in McMinnville, Tennessee, Betty moved to Macon with her husband in 1993, where she would make a significant impact on the community through her relationships and volunteer efforts.
Betty dedicated much of her professional life to serving others, working as a beautician and later as an administrative assistant for various churches and a dental practice. Her commitment to service extended beyond her professional roles, as she was an active member of the Thomaston Road Church of Christ.
Known for her joyful and generous spirit, Betty nurtured relationships with everyone she met and made them feel loved and appreciated. She deeply loved to work at “the Cottage” where she helped make quilts for families in need. She took great joy in solving puzzles and collecting her favorite items – blue & white ginger jars. She embodied the qualities of unconditional love, strength of spirit and a generosity that was seen in her care for family and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Randolph Brittle, Sr.
She is survived by her son, James (Kim); her daughter, Allison; grandchildren Brittany, Paxton (Julie), Jack (Ashley), and James Holland; great-grandson Elijah; and her sisters Billie Bridges and Bobbie Harris.
The family will greet friends Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 10:30am - 11:30am at Thomaston Road Church of Christ. Her memorial celebration will follow at 12:00pm in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rose’s Cottage Ministry of Thomaston Road Church of Christ or the Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia.
