Born in Macon, she was the daughter of Robert Bruce and Grace Irby Carstarphen.
She received her undergraduate degree from Wesleyan College and her master's from Georgia College. She enjoyed a career in marketing and was an adjunct professor at Middle Georgia State College.
Beth was a talented soprano and a longstanding member of the Morning Music Club and First Baptist Church of Christ choir, a church at which her family has called home since the late 1800s. Within these sacred halls, she married her husband of 40 years who she met onstage through her work at Macon Little Theatre. Her two sons were also dedicated there.
Beth was a devoted, loving and deeply loved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to all who were blessed to know her.
She is predeceased by her mother Grace Irby Carstarphen and her brother Robert Bruce Carstarphen Jr. She is survived by her beloved husband Dennis James Hagerman; sons James Ross (Annel) and Clifford O'Neal Hagerman; granddaughters Addison, Lily, Aerith and Mackenzie; father Robert Bruce Carstarphen; sister and brother-in-law Dianne and John Bowman; nieces Virginia Carstarphen and Mary Hampton; nephews Jay Bowman, JT and Scott Carstarphen; and much-loved grand-nieces and nephew.
She was passionate about her family, her rose garden, the theatre, music, helping others and giving back to the community. Each year, she helped coordinate a family fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association and supported other organizations in various roles. She was always willing to lend a hand and heart to those in need. All that knew her were made better by her. She was tremendously loved and will be incredibly missed.
