Billington Sanders Walker, V, died Monday, July 11, 2022. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 14, 2022 in Riverside Cemetery entering through the Main Gate. Curate Andrew Gordon will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service and asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the donor’s favorite charity. The family would like to thank the following for their great care of Sandy, Tracy Swearingen, Christy Swearingen, Debbie Hofer, Linda Hawkins, Ruby Thomas, Barbara Kimbrough and Agape Hospice.
Sandy was born in Macon on February 9, 1938 the son of the late Emily Bailey Walker and Billington Sanders Walker, IV. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Emily Bailey Walker and his son, Billington Sanders Walker, VI. Sandy graduated from the University of Georgia where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was a United States Army veteran and later returned to Macon to work at his father’s real estate/mortgage firm, Fickling and Walker. Later he purchased Fickling and Walker Insurance until it merged with Mike Kaplan to form Kaplan-Walker Insurance.
Sandy retired in 1984 to live on his beloved timber and hunting farm in Leslie, Georgia, which was introduced to him by his parents. He loved riding horses on the land and watching bird dogs point a covey of quail. This scene was his heart and soul for many years.
Sandy was a former member of First Presbyterian Church, Idle Hour Golf and Country Club, and the Macon Civic Club.
He leaves behind his wife, Pamela Stephens Walker of Leslie; son, Neil Craddock Walker of Leslie; daughter, Lane Walker Sheridan (Tim) of Macon; grandchildren, Virginia Lane Sheridan, Emily Caroline Sheridan, Billington Sanders Walker, and Neil Stephens Walker; nephew and niece, Bill Harper and Blair Harper Nichols.
