Alice Gladden Sawyer, 79, passed away on Tuesday, November 07, 2017. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 886 Mulberry St., Macon GA 31201.
Alice was born in Great Falls, South Carolina to the late Leonard and Helen Harris Gladden. She was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband, Wayne Brooks Sawyer, daughter, Jayne Sawyer Smith and son-in-law, Edward Walsh. Alice was voted the friendliest in her high school class, a quality that she carried throughout the rest of her life. Alice was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church and the Kate Davis Sunday School Class. She was a former member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church. She was retired as a dental receptionist for Dr. David Kalish and Dr. Rob McCormack. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Even though Alzheimer’s took away her memory, she never forgot that Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by her children; Jeff (Carol) Sawyer of Macon, Jill Sawyer Walsh of Macon, grandchildren, Katherine Walsh (Zack) Emerick, Anna Walsh (Harrison) Myers, Reid Harrison Sawyer, Alice Ruth Sawyer, Jackson Brooks Sawyer, brother, Michael (Susie) Gladden, sister-in-law, Isla (Paul) Sanders, nephews, Scott Gladden, Tommy Cash, Glenn Sanders, and niece, Karen Hines.
